East Islip High School’s girls varsity golf team delivered a remarkable performance at the Suffolk County tournament on May 19 at Middle Island Country Club, marking the first time in many years that the team competed together at this level. Junior Sara Pepp led the way by shooting a solid 90 on the first day, which qualified her to advance to the second day of competition. Pepp continued to play strongly, finishing among the top 12 golfers in the county and earning All-County status. Beyond Pepp’s individual success, the entire team played exceptionally well, demonstrating the skills, determination and teamwork that have been developed throughout their impressive season.

“This collective effort showcased not only their individual growth, but also the strong unity and spirit of East Islip girls golf,” coach Bill Lackner said. “Their performance at the county championship reflects the dedication and resilience the team has shown all season, overcoming tough weather and challenging courses to achieve a 10-2 league record and a second-place finish. This milestone season sets a promising foundation for the future of the program.”
