Work by four East Islip High School students were recently selected for exhibition in the Town of Babylon’s annual SCALA/BACCA All-County High School Show, held from Jan. 22 to March 5 at Babylon Old Town Hall. Florence Gonzalez was chosen for photography, Maddie McCarney for painting, and Jaylee Agosto and Sklar Herrle for mixed media. Gonzalez received first place in the photography category
“I am so grateful to have been selected and noticed for my artwork,” Gonzalez said. “It was an honor to win All-County for photography in the SCALA show.”
“I could not be prouder of Florence for her amazing photography, work ethic and artistic accomplishments,” teacher Heather Toomey said. “She is a strong member of our art department and school community, serves as co-treasurer of the National Art Honor Society, holds other leadership positions in countless other school organizations including yearbook, and is the official photographer for world language field trips”
“I was excited to include my most dedicated and hardworking students for participation in this very competitive show,” teacher Joy Taylor said. “Congratulations to everyone that was chosen to be a part of this. The work was truly amazing!”
