The district has appointed Janet Jones in a new role as executive director of STEM, MTSS and accountability. 

Jones had served as principal of East Islip's Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School since 2018. She previously worked as the district’s K-12 math and science director and as assistant principal at East Islip’s middle school and high school. Before coming to East Islip, she worked as math and science director for North Babylon School District and as a chemistry and biology teacher at Bayport High School.

A Great River resident, Jones obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology from SUNY Oneonta, a master’s degree in education from Dowling College, and school district administrator and school administrator and supervisor certificates from Stony Brook University.

"I'm excited to begin this new chapter as executive director of STEM, MTSS and accountability,” Jones said. “I look forward to collaborating with an incredible team, aligning district priorities with innovative practices and ensuring every decision keeps student success at the center of our work."
