The East Islip School District held its annual Summer Innovation and Enrichment Academy from July 14-Aug. 7, providing a tremendous opportunity for the district’s many elementary and middle school students interested in learning over the summer. Over 275 students signed up to take part in one of the two-week sessions being offered, arriving each morning to participate in a rewarding three-hour block of stimulating lessons and activities created and designed by an outstanding team of elementary, music, art and Spanish teachers. They also joined in a series of themed weeks focused on special topics such as “Good Time Summer Fun” and “A Salute to Decades Past.”
“It was incredible to see so many smiling faces arrive each morning and then leave with for dismissal with huge smiles,” East Islip High School Assistant Principal Michael Thorley said. “We look forward to seeing everyone back next summer.”
