Mock Trial Team Earns Second-Place Finish at Long Island Competition

East Islip High School’s mock trial team concluded another outstanding season with a second-place finish last month at the 52nd annual Long Island Law Day Mock Trial Competition. East Islip sent two teams to the event, held at Northport High School, where they faced top-ranked teams from Commack, Longwood, Massapequa, Plainview-Old Bethpage, Syosset and the Windsor School. Both of East Islip's teams cruised through the preliminary rounds, resulting in a first-ever East Islip vs. East Islip quarterfinal matchup.

East Islip’s Team 2 – consisting of seniors Michael Collina, Delaney Demasi and Olivia Stepanenko, and sophomores Emily Bucci and Anna Fantauzzi – prevailed and continued their success to the championship round, where they finished in second place by a razor-thin margin. The judges praised the team's knowledge of the law, professionalism and advocacy. 

“I’m proud the team ended the 2025-2026 season on such a high note,” coach Patsy Lester said. “We are going to miss our graduating seniors, but the younger students proved today they are ready to take up the challenge.”
