It was a picture-perfect homecoming for East Islip’s school community on Sept. 27, beginning in the morning with a pride-filled parade. Smiling, red-clad marchers – including numerous East Islip High School clubs, honor societies, band musicians and athletes – made their way down Main Street from the Bank of America to the East Islip Fire Department, with families and neighbors lining the route to cheer them on.

“Thank you to everyone at the homecoming parade for coming out to support our community,” Superintendent Paul Manzo said.

The excitement carried into the afternoon at the varsity football contest against Smithtown East. East Islip’s undefeated team kept the energy high, firing on all cylinders and clobbering the Bulls with a dominant running game that had the crowd on its feet. By halftime, the scoreboard already read 34–7 in favor of the home team, and the celebration was just getting started. 

During the halftime show, cheer and kickline teams delivered dazzling, high-energy performances that drew loud applause from the stands. Brooke Andresen and Sage Lyons were crowned as senior royalty, to the delight of their classmates and friends.

As the game continued, the team’s commanding performance on the field mirrored the pride felt throughout the community, piling up 27 more points as they cruised to a decisive 61-21 victory. Jake Simmons finished the day with 231 rushing yards, three touchdowns and a sack; and Will Gonzalez and Andrew Arena ran for 76 and 59 yards respectively and one TD each.

For students, staff, families and alumni alike, the day was about more than football – it was a celebration of tradition, school spirit and the bonds that bring East Islip together.
