A total of 66 East Islip High School students were awarded the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness, which will included as a special endorsement on their diplomas, in a May 29 ceremony in the school’s auditorium. The NYSSCR is intended to encourage civic knowledge and participation through experiential learning and the engagement of youth voice, leadership and action. It also provides employers and universities with a method of identifying high school graduates with civics skills .
