Three exceptional East Islip High School artists were chosen for participation in the New York State Boards Association Student Art Exhibit, sponsored annually by the New York State Art Teachers Association. School board members viewed the student artwork while attending the NYSSBA Convention in New York City earlier this fall, while the public can view this virtual art through Dec. 31 here.
Selected for the 2025 Student Art Exhibit were junior Ava Arpen (“The Goddess of Darkness”) and senior Nicholas DeSantis (“The Cold Front”) in the Digital Imaging and Design category, and junior Oliver Capobianco (“Creature of the Creek”) in the Photography category. All three students studied under art teacher Heather Toomey.
“I enjoyed using my own personal art for this piece,” Arpen said.
“I am so proud of these art students,” Toomey said. “They are so talented and deserve this honor.”
