Timber Point Elementary School students in Gail Rhatigan’s STEAM class recently learned about heat, light and sound energy. For sound energy, the students learned that vibrations are what causes us to hear sounds. The students demonstrated this concept by making a “string telephone,” and were able to hear their partner’s voice because the string was pulled tightly and vibrated when they spoke into the cup.
